IOS games (iPhone, iPad) – 20 games worth having on your phone and tablet

Although Apple is associated primarily with business solutions, mobile games are available in the App Store in wholesale quantities. From modest indie productions to AAA hits, there’s something for everyone on the iPhone. People who prefer to play on a larger screen also have nothing to complain about. Almost all productions run on tablets without any problems. In fact, there are even exclusive iPad games , although there are relatively few of them.

Hunters, if you don’t know which iPhone games to reach for, this post is for you. On the list you will find recommended titles, both paid and free, which are worth running on devices with a bitten apple.

Alto’s Adventure / Alto’s Odyssey

Endless runner platformers dripping with atmosphere are the perfect choice to relax after a hard day. The gameplay, although seemingly trivial, is addictive and provides a lot of fun. In the first installment of the series, the snowboarder will be racing along randomly generated, snow-covered mountain slopes, and Alto’s Odyssey takes the action to desert areas. The charm of the whole is added by a unique, minimalistic graphic design and mesmerizing music.

Death Hall

Death Hall will appeal to players who are looking for a demanding game for iPhones . The hardcore platformer is set in a world stylized as hell. Numerous chasms, traps and spiky obstacles await the hero. It would not sound so bad (😉), if it were not for the fact that a huge, bloodthirsty beast also wants his life, which from time to time decides to go on a little hunting.

Device 6

An unusual adventure game in which not only the text narrative itself is important, but also the arrangement of letters and lines on the screen. The signs create a map of the world. For example, a corridor is represented by a long sentence and rooms are a space surrounded by text on each side. While it sounds a bit strange, it ultimately works great, guaranteeing players a unique experience.

Genshin Impact

A blockbuster action RPG that blurred the line between mobile production and the AAA title. The production of the MiHoYo studio is focused on having fun in cooperation, but nothing prevents you from exploring the world of Teyvat on your own. Even though Genshin Impact is classified as a gacha game (offering the mechanics of unlocking characters and weapons by opening packages with random content), you can be successful even if you don’t spend a single buck. Other free iOS games have a real nut to crack, how to win with such a polished production.

Mobile games often offer unusual combinations of genres. It is no different in the case of Grindstone, which combines match 3 production with turn-based strategy. Each board waiting for the players is filled with colorful opponents who, as you can guess, must be eliminated in order to move to the next location. However, it is not that easy, because the enemies can give back, and the hero is not immortal.

HoloVista is … a simulator of a social networking site. The main goal of the player, who plays the role of an artist called Carmen, is to find and photograph things hidden in the nooks and crannies of a large villa. As more objects are discovered, however, it turns out that there is a more intriguing plot in the background. A great advantage of the game is its attractive graphics, kept in futuristic climates.

Lego Star Wars Castaways

LEGO and Star Wars are not only the upcoming premiere of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but also the extremely engaging Lego Star Wars Castaways. In the new Apple Arcade game, you can create your own character and live your life in this blockbuster approach to the Star Wars universe. You can do smuggler businesses, fly the X-Wing or just go to the galactic bar and dance.

Lumino City

The original graphic design is definitely the most interesting element of Lumino City. The creators first created characters and buildings from paper, and then transferred them to the virtual world, which allowed to achieve unique effects. The gameplay of this iOS game also stands out from other games. The game emphasizes logical puzzles that are solved, among others, by thanks to manipulation of the environment.

Mario Kart Tour

Who said Mario won’t go beyond the Nintendo ecosystem? Who? 😉 The spin-off of the famous racing series Mario Kart is available on Android and iOS devices. Just like in the main installments of the series, you can also take part in crazy races on routes known from other parts, as well as completely new tracks based on locations known from the real world. The title has an arcade driving model, and the go-kart can be controlled both by touch and by a gyroscope built into the device.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm

If iPhone games can boast a production with Mario in the lead role, maybe it’s Zelda? Ah, it’s not that good. However, it cannot be denied that Oceanhorn 2 draws a lot from the latest adventures of Link. We have an open, full of secrets, fantasy world, a combat system similar to that of the golden-haired hero known from adventures, and a lot of logical puzzles. People who want to start playing with this part do not have to worry about getting lost in the plot. The events take place a thousand years before those of the original.

Oddmar is a platformer that refers to Norse mythology at every step. The stories and objects appearing in the game are based on legends and historical sources. Mushrooms play an important role here, as they provide access to unique powers when consumed. For this reason, this production is also known as Viking Mushroom.

Papers, Please

Unusual and original puzzle game, which is a satire on the subject of the communist system. Those looking for high-speed action may be a bit disappointed as the gameplay is static and is based mainly on viewing travel documents. Comprehensive control is aimed at eliminating potential spies and terrorists. State security depends on the quality of work!

Punishing: Gray Raven

In jRPG Punishing: Gray Raven, the player takes control of a squad of warriors consisting of three people and leads them to fight mechanical beasts. The duels are fought in real time, and the player can switch between members of the squad at any time in order to be able to use the characters’ unique skills at the right moment. The game is offered in a free-to-play model with micropayments, but you can have fun without investing real cash.

Reigns +

Reigns combines the features of strategy, card games and roguelike games. The player gets his hands on a kingdom that he must properly manage. Postulates to the king are drawn from the deck of cards, and the decisions made have a number of different, sometimes long-term, consequences. Some choices may even end in the hero’s death. When this happens, the game must be restarted. After playing Reigns +, it is also worth reaching for the spin-offs Reigns: Beyond, Reigns: Her Majesty and Reigns: Game of Thrones.

Sky: Children of the Light

The fabulous adventure game from the creators of Journey and Flower, is based on very unusual assumptions. Like other studio titles, this is not a typical game, it is closer to something that can be called experience. During the game, you can meet other players with whom you can cooperate or compete. The creators allow everyone to choose their own path.

The Witness

A challenging puzzle game set on an island from which all people have disappeared under strange circumstances. The main character’s task is to discover all the secrets of a large location. However, before he discovers the innermost secrets of the place where he finds himself, he has to solve a number of puzzles. Unlike most typical games in the genre that puts challenges under your breath … in The Witness, the puzzles must first be found.

Townscaper is a game in which you will find no plot or purpose of fun. The gameplay focuses on expanding the city. However, there is no need to complete complex challenges or implement excessive challenges. You do not need to care about the economy or make tenders for hollow bricks. You just need to sit back and just build.

Released exclusively on iOS devices, Warbits is a strategy with a turn-based combat system, modeled on the Advance Wars games released on Nintendo consoles. The action takes place in the near future, in which it was decided to transfer all armed conflicts to the network. Despite the simple rules, the gameplay is quite complicated, and getting to know all the mechanics guarantees a lot of fun.

Very Little Nightmares

Very Little Nightmares is a prequel to Bandai Namco’s warmly received horror films about a little girl in a yellow raincoat called Six. Contrary to the “larger” installments of the series, the creators of the game for iPad and phones decided to change the convention, giving up platform elements for more logical puzzles.

XCOM: Enemy Within

The queen of tactical games also appeared on devices with the logo of a bitten apple. The gameplay is divided into two very distinctive parts. The management of the economic layer takes place in real time, while the clashes with the enemy take place in turns. XCOM: Enemy Within is only a standalone expansion pack for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but no one should be disappointed. It will take well over 20 hours to complete the story campaign.
